The Hindu Marriage Act, 1955  - Section 2

Marriage between two Hindus performed within territory of Goa - Contention that all marriages performed within the territory of Goa unless registered should be void - Contention not tenable - Two Hindus can contract a marriage according to Hindu religious rites or by way of a civil marriage.

The Hindu Marriage Act, 1955  - Section 12 , The Code of Civil Procedure, 1908  - Section 25

Transfer petition - Marriage solemnized at Goa as her personal laws and Hindu rites and traditions - Petition for annulments of marriage filed by husband at Goa - Wife residing at Delhi and seeking transfer of petition to Delhi on the ground that she had no friends and acquaintances at Goa and was not on a position to go Goa to contest the petition - Prayer for allowed - Claim of wife justified. (2001) 10 SCC relied.
